224 PWDs in Mt. Province get free mobility aids

Bauko, Mt. Province – A total of 224 individuals with mobility impairments in Mountain Province will now be able to walk and move around with less hassle after receiving mobility aids on February 18.

The beneficiaries received their assistive devices from the provincial government, Physicians for Peace Philippines, Manila Physician for Peace Inc., and other medical professionals during a turnover ceremony at Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH) in Bauko.


Devices given to these Persons with Disabilities include prostheses, wheelchairs, walker canes, and body braces, the Provincial Government of Mountain Province reported.


The 224 beneficiaries came from the eight municipalities in Mountain Province. They were first assessed in December 2022.


Dr. Josephine Bundoc, Physician for Peace team leader, informed that the mission of lessening the burdens of the PWDs by giving them mobility aids had already reached Aparri to Jolo.

LHMRH Assistant Head, Dr. Charita Bernardez, on the other hand, conveyed that the event is a stepping ground for them at the hospital to establish a community-based rehabilitation program.


Meantime, Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan thanked the LHMRH, the host hospital for their support in the event. He likewise conveyed that there will be more interventions and programs for the PWDs in partnership with the Physicians for Peace.
