23- yr.-old man in Gonzaga, Cagayan kills friend who demanded payment of debt

Gonzaga, Cagayan - A 23-year-old man allegedly killed his own friend in Gonzaga, Cagayan on July 10, 2024, because his friend demanded he pay him back what he owed.

Gonzaga PNP arrested the suspect, hidden in the name “Lanlan”, following a report from a witness saying “Lanlan” killed his 24-year-old buddy when the victim demanded that he pay his P3,000 debt that day.

 It is said that Lanlan hit the victim’s head with a steel pipe which caused his death.

The crime did not end there as the suspect dumped the body in a river 900 meters away from his house with the help of the witness.

The witness confessed that he was threatened by Lanlan at that time so he was left with no choice but to help him throw the body in the river.

On July 12, the witness decided to report the crime to the authorities because he felt guilty.

In response, the authorities immediately proceeded to the river, particularly in Barangay Santa Maria, to find the body.

The same day, July 12, the decomposing body of the victim was found.

He was identified as alias “Ryan”, a farmer and resident of said barangay.

Lanlan, meanwhile, was apprehended by the police. Aside from the weapon he used to kill the victim, three sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were also discovered inside his house.

He was charged with homicide and is now in a jail facility.
