24 iKalingas out of 303 cadets join Philippine Merchant Marine ranks

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Twenty-four young iKalingas are set to serve in the maritime industry after wrapping up their journey in the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) on July 30, 2024.

 

The 24 are among the 303 cadets comprising the Magigiting na Mandaragat, Tagapagpanatili ng Kapayapaan, at Kaunlaran ng Bansang Laya (MANDAGAYAN) Class of 2024.

 

This new batch of merchant marine officers from Kalinga was led by Jeffshan Rey M. Gonzalo who graduated Top 7 of the class. He is from Magsaysay, Tabuk City.

 

Other PMMA Class 2024 midshipmen include Richweh B. Anag of Lacnog; Kim Nick Awingan, Tabuk City; Jarell M. Balangui, Tabuk City; Halord Jay M. Balcanao, Tanudan; Arkey G. Banawag, Tanudan; Neiphel D. Bangibang, Tabuk City; Jay Louis Pete C. Bayubay, Tabuk City; Tyrene Gail B. Boclongan, Tabuk City; Patrick Angelo A. Burcio, Tabuk City; Arnold Jr D. Calderon, Tabuk City; Christian Wayne D. Catriz, Pinukpuk; Job M. Corpuz, Lubuagan; Zyra Mae T. Dawagan, Tabuk City; Delwyne S. Ga-oy, Tabuk City; Jaser B. Liban, Tabuk City; Cheremae M. Lugao, Tabuk City; Duclan A. Macadaeg, Tabuk City; Donald H. Manganip, Tabuk City; Richellieu S. Matnao, Tabuk City; Alexander S. Orro, Tabuk City; Ezra S. Regacho, Tabuk City; Jun Jun Ed G. Walay, Tabuk City; and Marvil Elly Yu-ing, of Tabuk City.

 

Their respective degrees were conferred during the 201st Commencement Exercises and the newly commissioned ensigns and second lieutenants will be serving in the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard.

 

The Provincial Local Government Unit of Kalinga, headed by Governor James Edduba, commended all these 24 PMMA graduates from Kalinga, saying they have set an example and inspiration to the younger generation.
