24-yr.-old BFP officer dies in Isabela motorcycle-truck collision

Isabela, Philippines – A family is in mourning over the sudden death of the 24-year-old officer of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bayombong Fire Station.

The beloved young officer lost life in a collision along Daramuangan Sur, San Mateo, Isabela at around 6:30 on Saturday morning, February 18, 2023.

The casualty, identified by police as Klein Rommel Enriquez, a resident of Inanama, Alicia, Isabela, was then on board the Yamaha Rouser along with back rider Romar Uyami, 26, resident of Communal, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya when the fatal accident happened.

Enriquez was traversing said road towards the south direction, while the Forward Truck driven by Roberto Paras, 51, from Sotero Nuesa, Roxas, Isabela was heading the opposite direction.

The driver stopped, presuming that the motorcycle and the “kulong-kulong” in front of his truck will collide. However, the “kulong-kulong” swerved, causing the motorcycle to crash against the truck instead, reported San Mateo police.

With the heavy impact, Enriquez sustained major injuries. He was rushed by responding authorities to the nearest medical facility but was declared dead on arrival.

Uyami survived the crash with injuries.

Meantime, the truck driver is in the custody of San Mateo Police Station and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injuries, and damage to properties.
