25 injured in jeepney-SUV collision in Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Rescue teams in Tabuk City had to move double time on Sunday, August 11, as they had to ferry 25 people to the hospital following a road accident on the national road in Gobgob.

The distance from Gobgob to Kalinga Provincial Hospital in Bulanao is more than a 20-minute ride.

According to Kalinga Police Spokesperson, PCapt. Ruff Manganip, a passenger jeepney was ferrying 21 passengers to Dugpa, Pinukpuk when the driver tried to avoid crashing at a car that suddenly stopped in front of it.

However, just when the driver swerved the steering wheel, there was an incoming SUV at the other lane. This caused the jeepney to crash straight into the SUV.

All three occupants of the SUV and the 22 people in the jeep were rushed to the hospital. These 25 are still recuperating from their injuries as of this writing.

With the incident, Manganip is reminding the public especially the motorists on road courtesy, discipline, and defense driving to avoid getting involved in road accidents.
