25-year-old man in La Trinidad, Benguet arrested for molesting girl inside jeepney

La Trinidad, Benguet – A 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly molesting a teenage girl inside a passenger jeepney in La Trinidad, Benguet on August 28, 2022.

La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) through PNP Cordillera FB Page, relayed that the victim boarded in a passenger jeepney when the suspect followed and sat beside her.

MPS further narrated that the suspect allegedly caressed the victim from her waist up to her chest while on their way to their destination.

Later, the suspect got off the jeepney upon reaching Barangay Lubas of said municipality.

According to the said police station, the victim said she got off from the jeepney and immediately reported the incident to the police officer who were on patrol.

The police were compelled to act right away and apprehended the suspect.

Police identified the suspect as Roger Saldo Lipaen, 25, a native of Baguilin, La Union and currently residing in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Lipaen is now detained at La Trinidad MPS and will be charged for Acts of Lasciviousness in relation to RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

Earlier, Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation reported that La Trinidad MPS was alarmed after recording a significant increase of rape cases from January to August this year. Most victims were said to be members of the minor age group.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Rodelio Olsim, Chief of Police of La Trinidad MPS, reminded all parents in the municipality to monitor their children, especially teenage girls.
