25-yr.-old man arrested for spreading nude photos, videos of ex-girlfriend

Baguio City, Philippines – A suspect who spread nude photos and personal videos of his ex-girlfriend was caught in an entrapment operation by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-Cordillera on Tuesday, September 5.

The guy requested a meet-up with his ex-girlfriend on said date in an inn near Malcolm Square in the city for him to delete the photos and videos he had with him and no longer spread them to the victim’s relatives.

Unbeknownst to him, he was already up for arrest by the authorities after being notified by the victim’s family.

The victim is a 19-year-old woman from Benguet while the suspect is a 25-year-old construction worker from Dagupan, Pangasinan, but currently residing in the city.

It was in December last year when the two met through a mobile online game and began a relationship.

In May this year, the victim decided to split with the guy, but a month later, the latter threatened the victim to spread her nude pictures and sex videos if he would not chat with him and if she would not break up with his current boyfriend.

The suspect later sent the photos and videos to the victim’s aunt and also to the other relatives of the victim.

With his arrest, he will now face multiple charges, such as violating RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004, RA 10175, or Grave Threat, and RA 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Voyeurism Act of 2009.

Authorities, meantime, are now urging victims of the same fate to report it immediately to their office for proper action.
