26 BFAR college scholarship grants available; application in Kalinga extended until Aug 29

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Cordillera is offering 26 scholarships for four-year courses related to agriculture or fishery to qualified and deserving students.

 

The application for said scholarship program is still ongoing.

 

The 26 slots are under the BFAR’s Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP).  20 slots are for children of fishermen, 3 are for the children of fisheries industry leader grant, and 3 slots are for IP students.

 

FSP aims to augment the school expenses of beneficiaries who will be taking up fishery and agriculture-related courses. The applicants need to pass through an examination to be conducted by the BFAR’s office in all provinces in the region.

 

The examination is part of the agency’s selection procedure to determine if the applicant deserves the scholarship.

 

In Kalinga, there are only 15 applicants as of August 21, BFAR - Kalinga Provincial Fishery Officer Joyce Ducyogen shared in her interview with Guru Press Cordillera.

 

Ducyogen is calling ikalinga students to apply for the scholarship saying “Apan da koma agapply ta haan nga sayang.”

 

The deadline for application in the province was extended until August 29 while the examination will be conducted in October or September, this year.
