28-yr.-old rider dies after rescue vehicle hits motorcycle in Abulug, Cagayan

Abulug, Cagayan – A rescue vehicle which is designed to save lives became the reason for the death of a 28-year-old motorcycle rider in an accident that transpired over the weekend in Abulug, Cagayan.


The incident, according to police, happened particularly at the Lucban Bridge in Calog Sur of said municipality.

The victim was said to be traversing the bridge on board his motorcycle when he was allegedly hit by the new barangay rescue vehicle of Upper Atok, Flora in Apayao, which was then heading to the opposite direction.


The rescue vehicle was driven by a certain Marcito Viernes, 54.


With the impact of the collision, the victim, identified as Aurelio Agbisit, 28, was thrown a meter away on said bridge.


He was brought by responding authorities to Far North Luzon Hospital in Luna, Apayao, but was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.


As to the driver of the rescue vehicle, he is now in the custody of Abulog Municipal Police Station. He might possibly face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide if no amicable settlement is made.
