2nd PAMANA Festival in Rizal, Kalinga successfully celebrated

Updated: Apr 15, 2022

Rizal, Kalinga – After not being able to pursue activities last year for Rizal’s 1st PAMANA Festival due to tight restrictions caused by Covid-19, the Local Government Unit of Rizal was able to celebrate the town’s festival on March 25, 2022 through a simple yet festive program.

PAMANA festival stands for Pagay-Mais-Nateng which are the products of the Municipality of Rizal. This was launched last year but due to the number of Covid-19 cases, a simple and short ceremony was conducted with limited participants.

Now that Covid-19 cases are under control and Kalinga is under Alert Level 1, Municipal Administrator Elyn Domondon narrated that Mayor Karl Bugao Baac released Executive Order No. 2022 – 10 declaring March 25 as a Special Non-Working Holiday in Rizal for the observance of the 2nd PAMANA fest.

This year’s event was marked by three major activities which include the Search for Best Barangay, the best booth constructed inside the vicinity of the municipal hall, and the best Pinakbet dish.

Domondon shared that the 14 barangays in Rizal battled against each other with Barangay Kinama winning first place while Santor and Liwan East emerged as second and third, respectively.

The booths which the barangays designed and built were kept at the municipal hall and now serve as a waiting or resting area for the people.

“PAMANA Festival aims to recognize and honor the farmers that uplift the Municipality’s economy and as a thanksgiving activity for a bountiful harvest. It is also a venue for cooperation, to reconnect the community to its heritage, reminisce what Rizal was and what it is now, foster camaraderie in this diversity of origin, culture, and tradition for a better Rizal, and finally, a legacy that can be left behind,” Mayor Baac wrote in Executive Order No. 2022 – 10.
