Updated: Oct 13, 2022

Pasil, Kalinga – Three recipients of ‘Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa’ Program received on Monday, March 28, 2022, an amount of P50,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Cordillera.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Segundina Gumabay said the Livelihood Settlement Grants serve as start-up capital for the beneficiaries in their proposed business as they start anew.

‘Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa’ Program

Institutionalized through Executive Order No. 114, series of 2020, ‘Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa’ Program of the DSWD is a convergence effort that aims to address the congestion in urban areas in Metro Manila.

The program encourages the people, especially informal settlers, to return to their home provinces and assist them in this transition with support and incentives on transportation, family, livelihood, and education, among others.

Those interested applicants were referred by the local government unit of Pasil to the regional office of the agency. Registered social workers and Sustainable Livelihood Program Project Development Officers then thoroughly validated the documents submitted.

Gumabay said two of the recipients granted in the municipality are from Ableg and one from Malucsad.

In 2021, the two families from Ableg received P38, 000 and P41, 000.00 respectively, while the third family from Malucsad was provided P49,000, depending on the number of family members.

Municipal Mayor Alfredo ‘Chao-ig’ Malannag Jr., along with the LGU officials, is grateful for the assistance that the national government has been extending to their constituents.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries committed to using the given fund for the intended purpose.
