3 ballet dancers from Baguio won 2 gold, 1 silver at Asian Ballet Competition 2024

Baguio City, Philippines – Three ballet dancers from the Ballet Baguio emerged victorious at the Asian Ballet Competition by clinching the team’s first-ever two gold and one silver medals.

Said event was held on September 14, 2024, at the Aliw Theater in Pasay, Metro Manila.

The performers who bagged medals for the team this year were Michel Jullianne Grace Quan, Phoeboa Rei Buen, and Quisha Babas.

Quan, 21, showed all her best and emerged as the Best Performance Winner, receiving a gold medal in the Classical Solo—Adult Category.

Sharing the spotlight was 23-year-old Buen, who also won a gold medal in the same category. The 18-year-old Babas, in the meantime, bagged a well-deserved silver medal in the Classical Solo-Senior Category.

Aside from their medals, the performances of these ballerinas were recognized through scholarship grants.

The team, on their Facebook page, reported that Quan and Buen were both granted 50 percent scholarships in the 2025 Ballet Intensive Program, while Babas was awarded a 30 percent scholarship grant.

Behind their achievements is their hardworking coach, Jacqueline Go Ramon, who did not stop teaching and perfecting their skills that made them outstanding.

Overwhelmed with the remarkable achievements of her students, the coach congratulated the three on her social media account.

“As they say, “Success is not the absence of failure, but the PERSISTENCE THROUGH FAILURE. Congratulations to Ballet Baguio’s top 3 strongest girls! You have made, not only me but the entire Baguio City proud. On to the next! “she wrote.

Ballet Baguio Elite team achievements

Since the Ballet Baguio Elite team joined international ballet competitions, the group slowly created an identity in the world of ballet.

In 2021, the team won their first-ever bronze medals at the Asian Grand Prix, then two silver medals at the Asian Ballet Competition in 2022. This year, the team finally won their very first gold medals after participating in the event.

Interestingly, Ballet Baguio Elite is the lone ballet organization in the city of Pines to have won medals in ballet competitions.
