3 elementary pupils in Tamauini, Isabela drown in Cagayan River

Tumauini, Isabela - Three elementary pupils met their untimely demise after they tragically drowned on Tuesday, December 2, 2024, at the Cagayan River in Barangay Annafunan, Tumauini, Isabela.

 

The victims,  all  residents  of said barangay, were identified by the Tumauini Police as an 8-year-old Grade 3 student, a 9-year-old Grade 4 student, and a 10-year-old Grade 5 student.

 

According to a local media near the area, a drowning incident was reported by a concerned citizen to the authorities at around 5:00 p.m. that day.

 

Investigations conducted by the police revealed that the kids were swimming in the river when they were suddenly swept away by a strong current, which drowned them.

 

Upon notification, members of the Rescue 811-Tumauini immediately launched a search and rescue operation and requested additional assistance from the Provincial Rescue team for the immediate retrieval of the bodies.

 

The rescuers found the bodies of the children around 6:00 p.m. They rushed the victims to a hospital. but the attending physician declared them dead on arrival.

 

The victims' bodies are now at their residences for their wake.
