3 families left homeless in Banaue fire need help

Banaue, Ifugao – Three families in Banaue, Ifugao whose homes went up in flames are in need of basic items.

It was around 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday, July 07, when a fire broke out in a residential area in Uhaj village of Banaue, engulfing the three houses and leaving them totally wrecked.

Another house was partially damaged, reported the Banaue Municipal Social Welfare Development Office.

No casualties or injuries were recorded but the incident left 24 individuals homeless.

All three families have not been able to salvage any of their belongings and since the barangay has no evacuation center yet, they are temporarily housed at their distant relatives.

On behalf of the families, the local officials are asking for donations, especially for their immediate needs such as food, clothing, toiletries, and the like.

“We firmly believe that every little bit of assistance can make a difference to those who have lost their homes and belongings,” Banaue MSWDO stated.

Those who wish to donate may bring their donations at the drop-off point at Uhaj Barangay Hall or contact Punong Barangay Romeo Bayucca at 0965-299-5749 or Barangay Secretary Amara Daen at 0938-790-7808.
