3 men in Isabela drown while swimming drunk

Isabela, Philippines – Three men died after swimming while intoxicated in the waters of Sanad Falls in Barangay Dicamay, San Mariano Isabela over the weekend.

On Sunday, August 13, the three went for a picnic. They had a drinking session and it was around 10 a.m. when one of them spotted a sparkling object at the bottom of the river which he thought was gold, he dived into it but did not resurface.

His worried two friends jumped to supposedly rescue their buddy. They, however, did not make it.

After the three failed to reappear, other groups who were then at the recreational site searched for them, with some taking the initiative to alert the village officials and authorities.

The two were found first but were no longer alive.

As for the other man, his remains were discovered in the evening of the same day.

San Mariano police said the three could have decided to enter the cave beneath the river where they were suffocated.

They were identified as Amar Manzano and Jojo Manzano, both residents of Dicamay, San Mariano; and Tirog Ramos from Macayucayu village of the same town.

The police reiterated their advisory to be cautious when going out for leisure-time activities.
