3 minors killed in Peñablanca, Cagayan head-on collision

Peñablanca, Cagayan - The holidays have been filled with sadness for the families of three minors who died in a crash that happened in Peñablanca, Cagayan, ahead of Christmas.

The casualties were identified as alias Michael, 17, alias Jun, 13, and alias Abigail, 17. They were residents of Barangay Cabbo, Peñablanca.

Based on the police report, the victims were then traversing the road in Barangay Camasi on the evening of Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Michael was riding a Honda Wave motorcycle while Jun and Abigail were his pillion passengers.

An investigation conducted by police disclosed that while they were traveling the road, their motorcycle was hit by a Honda Click 125, driven by alias John, 26.

Police added that the two vehicles were both speeding, but it was John who encroached on the victims’ lane, resulting in the collision.

The victims and the suspect sustained severe injuries due to the incident.

They were rushed to a hospital by responding authorities, but Michael, Jun, and Abigail were not able to survive.

Meanwhile, John, the suspect, who is now in stable condition, will be facing possible charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
