3 NPA rebels surrender to Kalinga police


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Three former members of the Communist Terrorist Group from Kalinga won’t have to spend Christmas away from their families as they finally turned their backs on the armed movement on December 15, 2022.


Alyas Landing, Alyas Joker/Diwa, and Alyas Omar/Dante surrendered to the authorities and officially denounced their allegiance to the communist groups at Camp Captain Juan M Duyan last Thursday, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office reported.

Landing and Joker were former members of CTG and the Militia ng Bayan or the New People’s Army sa Barrio under the Lejo Cawilan Command of the weakened Kilusang Larangang Guerilla - Baggas.


Omar, on the other hand, was listed on the Periodic Status Report on Threat Groups of the Kalinga police.


These three former CTGs also turned in a homemade shotgun long barrel with 1 gauge 12 ammunition, a cal. 22 magnum, Smith & Wesson with 4 ammunition, and a cal. 30 U.S carbine with 1 magazine and 2 ammunition.


Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. Charles Domallig conveyed that the Provincial and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in the province will continuously implement the Whole-of-Nation-Approach to promote peace in Kalinga.

He likewise assured security to these former rebels saying, “we will provide security for them and see to it that they will not be isolated in terms of the programs of the government for the surrenderers.”


Meantime, the Philippine Communist Party founder Joma Sison died at the age of 83 this December 16 after two weeks of confinement at a hospital in the Netherlands.
