3 robbers posing as NBI officers caught in Kalinga


Pinukpuk, Kalinga – Three individuals from Cagayan were jailed after extorting cash from a business owner in Pinukpuk Thursday night, January 19, the Kalinga police reported.

The suspects whose names were withheld by the police pending identity verification introduced themselves as members of the National Bureau of Investigation. Two of them are residents of Tuguegarao City while the other is from Santo Niño, Cagayan.


The three, two males and a female, robbed the owner of a funfair in the locality, taking P10,000 from him.


Police authorities in Pinukpuk were notified about the incident, prompting them to intercept a Toyota Innova described to be the suspects’ vehicle as it passes through Barangay Katabbogan.

The police seized 2 NBI identification cards named after the suspects and P10,000 cash. Authorities also confiscated 2 cellphones, a driver’s license, and the car key.


The three were brought to Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station for investigation and filing of appropriate charges.
