30 Pasil farmers study organic agri, disaster risk reduction, climate change via school on air


Pasil, Kalinga – At least 30 farmers in Pasil, Kalinga are set to undergo season-long School-on-Air on Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Slow Food and Organic Agriculture this December 2022 to June 2023.


This is following its launching held Thursday, November 10, at the Farmers’ Center, Bisong, Malucsad, Pasil graced by Municipal Administrator Milagros Batalao, representing Mayor Alfredo "Chao-ig" Malannag Jr.


The program done in observance of the Organic Month this November is a joint venture of the Municipal Agricultural Services Office and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, according to Agriculturist Rowena Gonnay.

Gonnay informed the participants from barangays Galdang, Guina-ang, Pugong, Malucsad, Ableg, and Dangtalan will first have a hands-on demonstration on climate change, disaster risk reduction, organic agriculture, and slow food in December.


From January onwards, they will be having weekly meetings and classes on air.


The participating farmers, she added, earlier received garden tools such as spray can and garden nets from the Municipal Agriculture Office.


Participants are encouraged to learn as much as they can in the program so they can later apply such strategies in their own community.


This is the third batch of season-long School-on-Air initiated in the locality to capacitate the community on said matters.
