30-yr-old man dies after truck rammed 6 vehicles along Marcos Highway, Benguet

Tuba, Benguet - The latest road accident along Marcos Highway in Tuba, Benguet resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man, while five others were injured.

The crash, which occurred on March 22, involved a forward truck, four other four-wheel vehicles, and two motorcycles.

According to a report from Tuba Municipal Police Station, the truck lost its brakes while traversing said road. As a result, the driver lost control and the truck crashed straight into the other vehicles.

One of the motorcycle riders, Edward Hazel Pacis Hufana, died after sustaining severe injuries to various parts of his body.

Fortunately, the other rider and occupants of the four-wheel vehicles survived the accident but some suffered injuries.

The injured victims were identified as Fedila Villoria Isip, 78; Rhea Isip Carbonel, 47; Carla Isip Navarro, 48; Vicente Olpindo Tatunay, 30; and Juvelyn Emocling Ocampo, 32.

In a follow-up report, the said police station informed that the injured are currently recuperating at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, while the casualty is still at the morgue.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck, who was also injured, was released by the police as the families of the victims did not file charges against him.

As of this writing, further investigation is underway to determine the real cause of the tragic road crash.
