31-yr.-old man in Burgos, Isabela hangs self over alleged debt

Burgos, Isabela - According to a study, people who recently experienced financial hardships are twenty times more likely to attempt suicide due to extreme levels of stress as well as other types of emotional distress.

For a 31-year-old man in Burgos, Isabela, his debt allegedly became the reason for ending his life.

The man, hidden under the name "Renz," a resident of Barangay San Miguel, Burgos, was found dead at his house on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

In his interview with a local media outlet, Police Master Sergeant Jayson Pascua, one of the investigators of the case, said that Renz was seen drinking alcohol before the incident happened.

Renz's employer, according to the police, related that the victim mentioned during their past conversation about his plan to kill himself because of his problems; one of which was his huge debt to a store.

With the findings, police are now considering that Renz might have committed suicide because of the debt, but further investigations are being conducted to find out the real reasons.

The victim’s body is currently at his residence for his wake.
