31-yr-old police in Tuguegarao killed by a tricycle driver due to road rage

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - When someone hits your vehicle unintentionally on the road, it’s important to stay calm because losing your temper can lead to road rage which can make the situation more complicated.

For a 31-year-old man in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, road rage became the reason for his tragic death. He was identified as Patrolman Alvin Cabrera, a resident of Barangay Ugac Norte, Tuguegarao.

According to police reports, as narrated to them by the witnesses, Cabrera was on board an NMAX motorcycle and was traversing the road in said barangay on Monday, October 21, when he hit a tricycle he was following.

It was said that Cabrera continued riding his motorcycle and passed the tricycle instead of stopping, which accordingly, made the driver angry.

The tricycle driver followed Cabrera until they engaged in a heated argument on the road.

When the two arrived at Reyes Street, the tricycle driver struck Cabrera’s motorcycle causing the police man to fall on the road. While Cabrera was lying on the road, as can be seen in CCTV footage, it was then that the tricycle driver stabbed him multiple times.

Cabrera did not fight back against the suspect but instead, he ran to a convenience store and sought from the people there.

Cabrera was rushed to a medical facility in the city but he did not survive the stab wounds he sustained from the attack.

Meanwhile, the suspect, whose identity was withheld by the police, was arrested shortly after the incident. He is now under inquest proceedings and was charged with murder.
