31-yr-old soldier arrested for selling unlicensed firearm in Santiago, Isabela

Santiago City, Isabela - A 31-year-old member of the Philippine Army was arrested on Wednesday, August 7, after he tried to sell an unlicensed firearm to a police who posed as a buyer in a buy-bust operation in Santiago City, Isabela.

 

The police identified the suspect as a 31-year-old man and a resident of Cauayan City, Isabela.

 

He has been an active member of the 102nd Infantry Battalion for nine years and is currently stationed in the province of Abra under the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.

 

A report from Santiago PNP disclosed that Cacayan sold a Caliber 45 with a magazine for P40,000 to the undercover police officer.

 

The suspect failed to show the license of the said gun, thus they arrested him.

 

The suspect and the confiscated evidence are now in police custody for documentation and disposition.

 

The soldier will be charged with violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
