33 yApayao athletes join CAR’s "Fearless Highlanders" team for Palarong Pambansa 2024

Luna, Apayao – 33 yApayao athletes are now in Cebu to compete at the Palarong Pambansa to bring pride not only to their province but to the whole Cordillera region.

 

The province was the first runner-up during the CARAA Meet 2024 with over 62 gold medals, 74 silver, and 107 bronze, thus giving some of its athletes the right to represent the Cordillera region in the said national event.

As reported by the provincial local government of Apayao, the province sent off 33 athletes, along with their 21 coaches, to join CAR’s Fearless Highlanders.

 

They will be competing in various sports such as gymnastics, table tennis, lawn tennis, athletics, chess, wushu, wrestling, billiards, taekwondo, and arnis.

 

Cordillera’s team has a total of 706 players, coaches, and officiating officials. They already arrived in Cebu on July 3 and settled at Mabolo Elementary School.

 

With over 12,000 participating athletes, coaches, and school officials, this year’s Palarong Pambansa will run until July 16.

 

The event’s opening ceremony was held on July 9, signifying the start of the country’s annual multi-sporting event.

 

The Cordillera’s Fearless Highlanders hope to surpass their top 9 rank in the Palarong Pambansa 2023.
