36-yr-old man who took temporary refuge to wait out rain shot dead in Abra

Bangued, Abra – While temporarily taking refuge to wait out the rain, a 36-year-old man was shot at Sitio Tingga, Cabuloan, Bangued, Abra on Monday, September 16, resulting in his death.

The victim, according to police, was heading home that night but when he reached the residence of a certain Warlito Valera around 9 p.m., he stopped and asked Valera if he could take shelter for a while until the rain passed.

Valera agreed and the victim identified as Raniel Romero, a resident of Calaba, Bangued entered the house of Valera.

While he was having a conversation with Romero, it was then that a gunshot was heard. Valera said it came from the outside and directly hit the window.

The victim immediately ran and hid at the comfort room while Valera also dashed into one of their bedrooms.

When Valera went out after making sure that it was already safe, he was shocked to see Romero lying on the floor and bathing with his own blood. The blood, as he described, was coming out from the victim’s chest.

Romero was brought to a nearby medical facility but was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect, in the meantime, fled immediately following the incident.

Further investigation is now ongoing to determine the suspect’s identity and the motive for the crime.

As to Romero’s family, they are now calling on authorities to deliver speedy justice on the death of their patriarch.

The said shooting incident is the fifth incident for this month.
