36th Cordillera month celebration in Kalinga kicks off

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Leaders and officials in Kalinga led the beating of the gong this July 03 as the province opened the 36th Cordillera month celebration.


The event kicked off with a simple ceremony spearheaded by the provincial government under Governor James Edduba’s leadership at the Kalinga Astrodome.


Graced by various line agencies, the celebration was marked in the province through Kalinga’s signature and renowned ‘Awong Chi Gangsa (indoor)’ which was played by the different leaders, heads of offices, and guests at the venue.

Alongside the opening program is also the start of the National Disaster Resilience and Nutrition Month celebration in Kalinga.


In his message, Office of Civil Defense – Cordillera Officer-in-Charge, Jose Ignacio Valera explained that the annual observance of Disaster Resilience Month aims at emphasizing the importance of collaboration in disaster risk reduction and management and in addressing climate change.


He also commended Kalinga for prioritizing and implementing comprehensive measures and programs to attain disaster resiliency saying, “The Province of Kalinga is one of our models in resiliency efforts.”


After the formal program, officials in Kalinga sealed their commitment in the deployment of the GeoRiskPH Platforms in CAR through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera led by Assistant Regional Director Pepita Picpican. Bomosao urges Cordillera youth to ‘say YES to autonomy’
