38 close contacts of 13 Covid-19 UK variant cases in Cordillera infected



Tabuk City, Philippines – Thirty-eight close contacts of the 13 UK variant cases in the Cordillera tested positive with Covid-19.


According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, 34 of these are close contacts of the 12 UK variant cases in Bontoc, Mt. Province.


The other 4 close contacts that tested positive with the virus are the household members of the patient infected with UK variant in La Trinidad, Benguet.


Moreover, it was reported that of these 38 contacts, 6 have already tested negative for the UK variant while the rest are awaiting result of the genome sequencing of their specimen.


Meanwhile, just this January 25, Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey mandated free mass testing to five barangays through Executive Order No. 10-2021.


These 5 barangays include Bontoc Ili, Caluttit, Poblacion, Samoki, and Tocucan.


As of 4pm of January 25, 1,581 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the Philippines bringing the country’s active cases to 29, 282.
