Man in Cagayan crossed river to graze his carabao, swept by currents



Baggao, Cagayan - The body of a 38-year-old man who drowned in a river in Baggao, Cagayan was already lifeless when found.


The deceased is identified as Rowel Eleydo Soriano, a resident of Barangay Asinga Via, Baggao.

Accordingly, Soriano went to graze his carabao last Saturday, November 18, 2023. To get to the grazing area, he needs to cross the river first.


He did not make it home since that day, according to his family. This prompted them to search for the victim.


After failing to know his whereabouts, they decided to report the matter to authorities.


Notified of the incident, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)-Baggao immediately conducted a search and rescue operation to find the victim.


After three days of searching, Soriano was found dead morning of November 20.


Police hinted the victim might have slipped and hit his head on a hard object resulting in the drowning incident that claimed his life.
