38-yr-old rider in Cagayan run over by pick-up truck, declared DOA at a hospital

Solana, Cagayan - The PNP again reminded motorists to avoid overtaking when it's unsafe to do as such cause of vehicular accidents is still being recorded in the country; the latest one was the road crash in Cagayan.


The road crash, which occurred along the national highway in Solana, Cagayan on March 3, resulted in the death of a 38-year-old motorcycle rider.


According to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the rider, identified by the police as Carlo, was enroute to his work in Solana from Alcala when the tragic accident happened.


Based on CCTV footage, Carlo was traveling the road along Barangay Nangalisan, Solana. When he reached the Bayabo Bridge, he attempted to overtake another motorcycle he was following.


During the attempt, Carlo lost control of his motorcycle after hitting the vehicle he was trying to pass.


As a result, he fell onto the other side of the road. While he was lying on the road, he was struck by an oncoming pickup truck.


The truck driver, hidden under the name Canrado, 40, told police that he tried not to hit the victim but was unable to do so because everything happened so quickly.


As a result of the accident, the victim sustained severe injuries to various parts of his body and was rushed to the hospital by the responding medical team. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
