396 yTinglayans to be provided 10-day temporary work and P1.7M TUPAD wages

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The national government’s initiative in providing temporary work for displaced workers through its Livelihood Assistance to Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program continue to benefit the people of Tinglayan.

 

The beneficiaries, this time, are 102 residents of Buscalan, and 98 each from Lower Bangad, Centro Bangad, and Basao.

 

These individuals underwent orientation this week and signed their contracts to begin working in their communities through the program.

 

The orientation was spearheaded by Department of Labor and Employment-TUPAD Coordinator Samson Galdoc and Municipal Public Employment Service Office Designated Officer Bonalyn Ewad.


The recipients will be involved in vital upkeep and maintenance work within their barangays and schools.

 

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab expressed gratitude to DOLE for funding the program anew in Tinglayan, which he said are of importance particularly to constituents considered as disadvantaged workers.

 

He also committed to lobbying more funds to implement projects and livelihood grants needed to boost the productivity and livelihood of every Tinglayanos.

 

As he always mentioned basing from a proverb, giving a man a fish could feed him for a day while teaching him how to fish could feed him for a lifetime.

 

Earlier, the TUPAD program benefited 385 Tinglayanos from Basao, Dananao, Belong-Man-ubal, Old Tinglayan, and Buscalan.

 

Recipients of said barangays on May 16, received their wages amounting to P4,300 each in consonance with the prescribed minimum daily wage in the Cordillera Region which is P430.
