4 barangays in Santa Marcela are 2024 SGLGB National Passers

Santa Marcela, Apayao – The Barangays of Malekkeg, Panay, Barocboc, and San Juan in Santa Marcela have been recognized as 2024 National Passers under the DILG’s flagship program Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) for their exemplar governance, leadership management and public service, the DILG-CAR announced on Wednesday, Feb. 12.


Said barangays were among the 192 barangays in region CAR conferred with the award, following their outstanding performance in various governance assessment criteria like financial administration; social protection and sensitivity; disaster preparedness; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; youth development; tourism, heritage development, culture, and arts; and business-friendliness and competitiveness.


Mayor Evelyn Martinez commended the said barangays led by Punong Barangays, Romeo l. Guillermo, Rizza T. Guiang, Alfredo B. Liñan and Teresita l. Ven and their barangay officials for fostering commitment hard work, and unified effort in serving their barangays. In her previous talks, Martinez encouraged other barangays to keep doing their best to excel and meet the SGLGB assessment standards and criteria. 


The SGLGB was formed as performance standards centered on gauging outcome-oriented efforts aligned with the 2023-2028 Philippine Development Plan providing an avenue for government agencies to support local development initiatives and reforms in upholding good governance, promoting transparency, and advancing meaningful local autonomy and development.
