4 yApayao IPs granted DOST scholarships for excellence in Science and Technology

Luna, Apayao - Four students in Apayao were granted scholarships by the Department of Science and Technology for demonstrating a high level of competence in Science and Technology.

 

Those selected were Brenda Gayle Bayani, Precious Lara Culso, Krizzy Carl Basan and Jan Lexter Coilan, benefitting from the Bringing Education in Science and Technology for Indigenous People (BEST for IP) program.


BEST for IP aims to support high-achieving students from indigenous communities who demonstrate strong competence in science and technology.

 

Among the privileges of the program include tuition and other school fees up to P40,000 per academic year, learning materials and/or connectivity allowance of P10,000 per academic year, a monthly living allowance of P7,000, a clothing allowance of P1,000 (for the first semester of the first year only).

 

Additionally, beneficiaries are also entitled to a transportation allowance, a thesis allowance of P10,000, a graduation allowance of P1,000, and group accident and health insurance premiums.

 

On May 24, 2024, the grantees, along with their parents and legal guardians, attended an orientation hosted by the DOST which covered various aspects of the scholarship program. The scholars signed the Scholarship Policies and Agreement and took their oaths as scholars.
