4-yr.-old kid dies in van-truck collision in Tuba, Benguet

Tuba, Benguet – A four-year-old child died in a van-truck collision that transpired on Friday, Oct. 06, 2023, along Marcos Highway in Poblacion, Tuba.

Police identified the casualty as Johnraffy Edora Borja, a resident of Masinloc, Zambales.

The victim was among 14 people on board a private van who were then heading to Baguio City.

Accordingly, the crash was caused by a 10-wheeler truck coming from Baguio City and on the way to deliver bulk of vegetables in Bulacan.

While on said road, however, the driver identified as Ariel Deofilis Gogola, 35, lost control of the 10-wheeler truck due to a mechanical defect, crashing against the private van.

Apart from the casualty, a certain Mario Juan Estudillo, 32, is in critical condition and is being treated in a hospital in Baguio City. Other passengers, meantime, are already in a safe condition.

The truck driver is now in the custody of Tuba police and could possibly be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
