40-yr.-old man in Cagayan ends life a day before Christmas eve

Baggao, Cagayan – A 40-year-old man hanged himself a day before Christmas Eve at Purok Papaya, Remus Baggao.

The victim whose identity has been kept was a construction worker.

According to the police investigation, the man who hanged himself in their kitchen on December 23 had a history of committing suicide in 2020 but was unsuccessful as he was saved by family members.

This time, the family was unable to rush to his aid.

Before the suicide incident, his sister narrated that the victim sent her messages on December 23 greeting them a merry Christmas, along with a message requesting them to look after his children.

At first, the sister ignored the texts but later felt troubled when his brother stopped sending her messages.

This prompted her to ring his brother’s phone but no one was answering, and later, could not anymore be reached.

She immediately went to her brother’s residence and was shocked to see the victim hanging in the kitchen.

She then called for help from the neighbors to bring him down but it was already late.

The victim’s body was ferried to a funeral home near the area for a post-mortem examination.
