42-yr.-old janitress proudly finished Kindergarten

It is never too late to achieve a goal or dream.

While many feel ashamed to go back to school or start studying at adult age, a 42-year-old mom in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan braved what society has to say against her taking a class normally attended by four or five years old and entered Kindergarten.

Remilyn Dimla works as a janitress at Tuguegarao East Central School (TECS) where her Grade 1 child is studying. When she was asked to receive her child’s module, the school administration noticed she was having a hard time writing her full name. That time, the school encouraged her to enroll and she did, narrated Cagayan Provincial Information Office in a press release.

Remilyn conveyed she could not read and write because she lost interest to study when her mother prioritized her stepsister’s education over hers.

With her finishing Kindergarten, she is now able to write and is slowly learning to read. She feels elated that she was able to accomplish the first step of fulfilling her dreams.

“Pagsisikapan kong makapagtapos hanggang kolehiyo upang maitawid ko ang edukasyon ko at ng anak ko at maipagmalaki rin ako ng pamilya ko,” Remilyn vowed.

Her teacher Glenda Ubiña described her as a jolly and fast learner. She constantly interacts with her classmates who call her “auntie.”

Remilyn recently had her class pictorial and is set to graduate from Kindergarten by next month.
