43-yr.-old man in Nueva Vizcaya hangs self 3 years after his brother’s suicide

Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – A 43-year-old man hanged himself in Nueva Vizcaya, three years since his younger brother did the same.

From January to November in 2022, the Police Regional Office 2 documented a total of 129 suicide cases, 26 of the incidents happened in Nueva Vizcaya.

In 2019, the suicide rate in the Philippines was at 2.5 per 100,000 individuals, according to the Department of Health.

The latest suicide victim in Nueva Vizcaya is the 43-year-old man who was found lifeless at their residence on February 26.

Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office revealed that the man was discovered by his brother-in-law hanged at their house, with a nylon rope around his neck. He cut the cord but the victim’s body was already stiff.

Prior to the incident, the single victim allegedly told his drinking buddies he will take his own life as he was regularly left alone at home. The 43-year-old man was staying with his parent and siblings but work kept them from spending more hours at their house.

The suicide victim has a younger brother who also hanged himself in January 2020.
