430 yTinglayans to benefit from P2.7M fund thru DOLE’s TUPAD Program

Tinglayan, Kalinga – A total of 430 yTinglayans who are newly employed under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program are now involved in a more fruitful activity as they work on food production.

The recipients, who recently had their orientation, will work on tree planting activities and community gardening through the “Gulayan sa Barangay" and "Gulayan sa Paaralan".

The shift to tree planting and community gardening, according to Larae Lactao of the Municipal Information Office, was an instruction by the provincial governor to make the program’s impact a more fulfilling and fruitful one.

The governor, in an earlier statement, mentioned fruit trees like Arabica and Robusta Coffee, along with cacao to be planted by the recipients.

The beneficiaries this time are from the barangays of Ambato, Basao, Belong Man-ubal, Bugnay, Buscalan, Luplupa, Ngibat, Old Tinglayan, Poblacion, Sumadel I, Sumadel II, Tulgao East, and Tulgao West. The recipients will work in their respective barangays.

Following the minimum wage prescribed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), they shall be receiving P430 per day or a total of P6,450 each for 15 days.

To recall, it was on August 8-9 this month that 600 beneficiaries from Lower Bangad, Bangad Centro, Basao, Buscalan, and Bugnay received their wages from DOLE.

The continuous outpour of livelihood programs in Tinglayan is part of the commitment made by the local government unit led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab.

This is to help yTinglayans in need of livelihood opportunities while also fostering skills development and productivity.

In a statement, Gumilab expressed gratitude anew to DOLE and the provincial government of Kalinga, noting that the TUPAD program does not only aid Tinglayan residents but also contributes to the continued development of the municipality.
