46-yr-old Brgy. Kagawad in Aparri, Cagayan caught selling illegal drugs

Aparri, Cagayan - A barangay official who is supposed to uphold the law is now in police custody after he was caught selling illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Aparri, Cagayan on Tuesday, March 18. 

 

The suspect, a Barangay Kagawad in said town, was identified by the police as alias "Binung," 46. He was classified  as a high-value target in the campaign against illegal drugs in the province. 

 

During the operation, particularly in Barangay Centro 9, Aparri, the police officers seized two heat-sealed  plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the buy-bust money, and a cellphone from Binung. 

 

The suspect, along with the seized evidence, was taken to the Aparri Police Station. 

 

Binung will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. 

 

After the successful operation, Cagayan Police Provincial Director PCOL Mardito Anguluan lauded the authorities for their outstanding coordination and the effectiveness of their efforts against illegal drugs and firearms. 

 

“Patuloy ang ating pagsusumikap upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan at kaayusan sa ating mga komunidad,” he added, as quoted in the Cagayan Police Provincial Police Office press release.
