48-year-old man shot by unidentified gunman in Lubuagan

Lubuagan, Kalinga – A 48-year-old man working as a job order in the Municipality of Lubuagan was shot by a still unidentified assailant in Sitio Tiwod, Barangay Antonio Canao Thursday evening, July 21, 2022.


The victim, John Lumpao, a resident of Barangay Mabongtot, was attacked around 7:50 PM at his boarding house.

Police Colonel Peter Tagtag Jr., in an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, narrated that the victim could have been shot first outside his boarding house and ran to his room but was followed by the assailant.

“Mabalin nga pinaltugan da idiay ruwar, inmuneg idiay kampo na, sinurot da latta ta adda gamin iti basyo met lang idiay kwarto na,” Tagtag narrated.


Tagtag added that the victim was still breathing when the police responded to the incident. However, he was declared dead by the attending physician at 8:10 PM due to the two gunshot wounds on his chest.

To prevent any possibility of violence and conflict, the elders of Lubuagan met today, July 22, and vowed to work together for the identification of the suspect.


Investigation of the case is still ongoing.
