5,700 packs ‘ayuda’ distributed to families under 16-day lockdown in Pudtol Apayao

Pudtol, Apayao- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Provincial Government of Apayao distributed 5,700 food packs to the municipality of Pudtol as aid to families affected by the 16-day lockdown or the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to the first delta case in the region detected in the province.


DSWD provided 5,200 food packs, while the other 500 food packs came from the provincial government. The pack consists of necessities such as canned goods, a sachet of powdered drink, and kilos of rice.


According to Social Welfare Assistant Chelzea Collado of MSWD-LGU Pudtol, the distribution covers all affected families from the 22 Barangays started on August 7, 2021, and was completed on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.


Proper handling and distribution were done under the leadership of Mayor Hector Pascua with the help of MLGU, Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF), Cordillera Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council, CESO II, Regional Director of DSWD-CAR accompanied by Social Welfare And Development-Apayao Provincial Action Team and the members of the Provincial DRRM Office.

PNP Pudtol also conducted their ‘Barangayanihan’ to assure that security and safety protocols were followed during the distribution of said relief goods.

The Department of Health Cordillera on their Facebook post reports a new alert level classification for Apayao to guide the Local Government Units in their COVID-19 response.

Apayao, as of press time, has a high number of cases with its healthcare capacity increasing at high utilization, regardless of delta variant presence.


The municipality is on lockdown until August 21, 2021.
