6 Cordillerans gears up to join final list of Great Man of the Universe 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – Six Cordilleran youth are aspiring to be included in the final line up of the first-ever Great Man of the Universe to be held in Manila this November 2022.

The said search, according to the Managing Director of Team Cordillera Joel Noah Quinto, is a nationwide male pageant which aims to promote tourism, education, culture, sports and arts.

The organizers earlier launched challenges among 108 aspirants. Some candidates were eliminated from the challenges, cutting them down to 59.

Six of said aspirants are from Cordillera region namely, Irvin Tan of Baguio City; Lucas Empiso representing Kapangan; Delefher Comising from Itogon; Miguel Jarrel Bas-ilen from La Trinidad; John Rowel Recile from Mountain Province; and Stephen Harold Lilley, Jr. from Sablan.

Each of the candidates has their own advocacies.

Tan, for one, is an advocate for street children.

“Growing up naexperience ko yung mga street children na hindi sila naka pag-aral so yong mga landas nila ay napupunta sa maling Gawain. So yung advocacy is more on street children, giving them the right to education and making them realize the importance of education,” he said in his interview with PTV-Cordillera.

Meanwhile, Comising is into education, Guway on mental health awareness, and Liley on sports and wellness.

“Isa din ako dati na nahihiya, marami rin akong insecurities hindi lang sa physical na katawan pati rin po sa confidence ko sa aking sarili. Ang advice ko lang sa kanila is for you to somehow lumabas kayo sa comfort zone ninyo. This is a great time, It is really a great platform for you to somehow i-boost din yong confidence ninyo,” Bas-ilen, on the other hand, stated.

The candidates are soliciting the support of fellow Cordillerans by reacting and sharing their challenge videos published on the Great Man of the Universe 2022 Facebook page.
