5 firecracker-related injuries recorded in Kalinga on New Year’s festivities


Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Health Office of Kalinga has so far logged five firecracker-related injuries in the province, as of 7 AM of January 2, 2023.


Record shows all of the victims are males, of which, two were said to have been intoxicated when they sustained injuries.

Two of the victims are from Pinukpuk, of which, one is a 23-year-old from Camalog who sustained minor injury on his left hand due to “kwitis” while the other is a 36-year-old from Sucbot whose left forearm was burned due to fireworks.


In Tabuk City, a 20-year-old from San Juan sustained a closed fracture proximal phalanx on his left index finger due to an improvised pyrotechnic device (boga) while a 52-year-old resident of Calaocan, Rizal incurred a burn on his left-hand due to ‘kwitis’ explosion.


Meantime, a 30-year-old resident of Solana, Cagayan also sustained a hand injury and was admitted to a health facility in Rizal, Kalinga.


All of the injuries occurred at home.
