5 newly-wed couples in Luna, Apayao win longest kiss with 15-minute record

Luna, Apayao – Research says that kissing releases ‘feel-good’ chemicals responsible for affection and euphoria, but how long can you really kiss your partner?

For five newly-wed couples in Luna, Apayao, they beat their fellow recently-married pairs with their prolonged smooch during the ‘Kasalang Bayan’ held at the BGVJr. Memorial Sports Center in Poblacion on February 26, 2024.

The mass wedding was hosted by the Municipal Local Government Unit of Luna headed by Mayor Josephine Bangsil to mark the Civil Registration Month this year.

Said event was held to give chance for couples to wed for free, and for them to just utilize their money for their new life instead of spending them on their wedding day.

For this year’s Kasalang Bayan, a total of 29 couples exchanged ‘I dos’ in front of their loved ones and Mayor Bangsil who solemnized their marriage. 

These couples, after the ceremony, enjoyed a small reception and activities prepared by the LGU. Among these games was the longest smooch where five couples went beyond the average kiss that only lasts for 12 seconds.

Said five pairs kissed their respective partners for 15 minutes, breaking last year’s 12-minute record.

Other special awards distributed during the event included oldest couple, sweetest couple, best dressed couple, oldest couple, and longest couple living together.

In a statement, Bangsil congratulated the newly-wed pairs and wished them the best as they navigate their new lives as married individuals.
