5 Tanudan PWDs who lost a limb now walk again with prosthetics

Tanudan, Kalinga – Moving around is no longer a problem for five individuals with mobility impairments in Tanudan, Kalinga as they received their leg prosthetics from the Tanudan Local Government Unit on December 20, 2022.

The prosthetics are freely given by the LGU headed by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag who initiated a program to help people in the municipality having lost a limb to be able to walk again.

These five beneficiaries personally accepted their leg prosthetics from Mayor Dagadag and the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Constancio Dalayap, together with the personnel of the Maria Victoria Ramat Nazarita(MVRN) Prosthesis Center, at the legislative building this Tuesday.

Maria Victoria Nazarita, in her message, commended the LGU for sponsoring these artificial legs and for not neglecting their constituents with physical disabilities.

“It is my fervent prayers na sana tuloy tuloy lang yung inyong programa na ganito kasi marami po kayong matutulungan, and eventually yung matutulungan niyong isang amputee magiging economically and physically productive,” she conveyed.

Meantime, Joey Bitao of Lubo expressed his gratitude to the Tanudan LGU for giving him the chance to stand and walk again without his crutches. Bitao shared that it was in 2014 when his leg was amputated. Since then, he relied on a walking aid.

Another beneficiary, 17-year-old Shantal Dupali thanked the LGU for giving her a new artificial limb after not being able to renew hers due to the pandemic. She said that she was born without a leg and has been using a mobility device her entire life.

All five recipients underwent gait training with the staff of MVRN Prosthesis Center.
