55-yr.-old farmer dies after he was run over by tractor’s trailer bed in Baggao, Cagayan 

Baggao, Cagayan - A 55-year-old farmer died after he was run over by a tractor’s trailer bed along the road in Barangay Remus, Baggao, Cagayan on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

The victim, Joseph Esprecion, a resident in the area, was on board a motorcycle when he attempted to overtake the four-wheel tractor he was following while he was traversing the said road that day.

The tractor was driven by Melvin Battung, 34, according to a police report obtained by a media near the area.  

While the two vehicles were on the road in said barangay, a mango tree branch was dangling over the way, thus Battung maneuvered the tractor to avoid hitting the branch. That time was also when Esprecion tried to overtake the tractor.

While Battung successfully avoided the mango tree branch, Esprecion, unfortunately, who struck it. As a result, Esprecion was thrown off his motorcycle, fell in front of the tractor, and then was run over by the tractor’s trailer bed.

Esprecion sustained severe head injuries which caused his death.

Meanwhile, Battung, the tractor driver, was not injured. He and the victim’s family have agreed to settle the matter amicably.

The victim's body is now at his residence for his wake.
