55-yr.-old man in Tumauini, Isabela left house to get bamboo shoots, dies of snake bite

Santiago City, Isabela – A 55-year-old man who was first reported missing after he was not able to return home when he went out to get bamboo shoots in a jungle in Tumauini, Isabela, was already dead when found on Tuesday, August 29.

 

The victim was identified as Primo Gabriel Lung-Ayan, a resident of Barangay Lalauanan, Tumauini.

 

According to the police report, the victim was last contacted through a phone call in the morning of Wednesday, August 28. Afterward, his relatives reported to the authorities that he was missing.

 

On the following day, August 29, the police and the barangay officials proceeded to the jungle, particularly in the area where Lung-Ayan often goes to collect bamboo shoots.

 

There, the authorities discovered the old man’s-lifeless body.

 

Based on the wound in his left hand, it was suspected that he was bitten by a poisonous snake which resulted in his untimely demise.

 

His body was later brought to the Tumauini Community Hospital for a postmortem examination.

 

Meanwhile, the victim's family was convinced that there was no foul play in the incident and refused to submit the remains for an autopsy.
