561 students in Kalinga benefit from P1.7M DSWD educational assistance

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 561 students in the province benefitted from the P1,708,000.00 cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which was distributed by the PSWD-Kalinga under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

The distribution was done over the weekend, August 20.


According to Lorna Lumioan of SWAD Kalinga, the distribution of cash aid will continue on August 27 and during the four Saturdays of September.


Lumioan said 600 students are scheduled to get their cash assistance on the 27th.


The number of beneficiaries, she explained, depends on the availability of funds. Additionally, SWAD-Kalinga said that the amount of assistance varies depending on the grade level of students.


Elementary pupils shall get P1,000, junior high school students- P2,000, senior high school students – P3,000 and college students - P4,000.


Who are eligible for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation?


According to DSWD-Cordillera, those qualified for the program include students from poor families, working students, breadwinner of the family, orphan or abandoned children, persons with disability, victims of calamity or those who are children of solo parents, distressed Overseas Filipino Worker or HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) disease patient.

Applicants for the program are to undergo assessment by a social worker to check if they are eligible.


As for the documentary requirements, applicants only need to present a school Registration Form or Certificate of Enrolment and any valid identification of the claimant, a school ID or government-issued ID of an authorized representative.

Beneficiaries are also encouraged to apply online through Google form – tinyurl.com/AICS-DSWD.


After registration, applicants need to wait for a text confirmation or a call from the department for the date and venue of the distribution of assistance.
