58-yr.-old landlord killed after 24-yr.-old tenant punched him for cutting off his electricity

Aparri, Cagayan - A 58-year-old rental house owner in Aparri, Cagayan died after he received three punches from his tenant knocking him to his death.

 

The tragic event happened after the landlord cut off the tenant's electricity in the early morning of Monday, August 12.

 

The deceased, Irineo Ancheta, was a resident of Barangay Centro 11, Aparri. The suspect, meanwhile, was identified as Eugene Gumarang, 24.

 

Police reported that Ancheta cut off Gumarang’s electricity at around 5:00 a.m. that day over yet to be known reasons. This got the two into an argument at the time.

 

During their altercation, Ancheta allegedly attempted to attack Gumarang, but Gumarang was able to punch him first.

 

Gumarang’s three punches knocked off Ancheta to the ground causing the latter’s head to hit the pavement. The old man sustained severe head injuries and died while being treated at the hospital.

 

At present, Gumarang is in police custody while further investigations are being conducted to determine what caused the victim to cut off his tenant’s electricity.

 

The accused will be charged with homicide.
