591 families affected by Typhoon Julian in Apayao receive food packs; over P.1M in aid given

Luna, Apayao- A total of 591 families in Apayao affected by Typhoon Julian were served with food items or food packs amounting to P130,426.00, the PSWDO reported on Wednesday.


Reports from PSWDO's Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) as of 5pm in October 2, showed that three (3) families were assisted through MLGUs with P2,546 worth of reliefs, 78 families through the DSWD with P61,580, and 510 families through the BLGUs with P66,300.


Data revealed Calanasan recorded the greatest number of families affected totaling to 531. Pudtol came next with 54 families, Santa Marcela with 13, Luna with 6, Conner with 2, Flora with 1, while Kabugao reported zero storm-hit family.


Moreover, four (4) partially damaged houses were recorded across the province. One in barangay Tanglagan, one in barangay Parina in Calanasan, one in Buluan, and one in Katablangan, Conner.


Fortunately, no casualty was reported.


Apayao was placed under TCWs No. 2, based on PAGASA's bulletin due to Typhoon Julian, prompting Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. to suspend work on September 30 in government offices to protect and safeguard lives of residents, and mitigate possible loss or adverse damages.


"Julian" was the fourth Tropical storm to hit the Province since January 2024. PSWDO staff said operations on disaster response are still on-going across the province through the Quick Response Teams, and DRRM personnel to hand over reliefs to the unserved.
