6-month-old baby, 4 others killed in Isabela road crash

Isabela, Philippines – A 6-month-old infant and four other individuals died in a vehicular accident along the National Highway in Barangay Balug, Tumauini, Isabela Saturday afternoon, August 27,2022.

The casualties were identified by the Police Regional Office 2 as Prince Adrian Menor, 6 months old; Kuldip Singh, 38; Arnel Menor, 37; Ernesto Caronan, 71; and Diana Ross Menor, 36.

Based on the initial investigation of the police, it was found that prior to the incident, a trailer truck driven by Oliver Zamora, 29, was traversing the north direction of the highway when upon reaching the place of the incident, the truck was said to have encroached the other lane, crashing against the single motorcycle driven by Singh and the tricycle driven by Arnel.

The impact of collision resulted in the death of Singh and Arnel along with the latter’s three passengers.

One of the tricycle’s passengers identified as Elma Caronan, 64, survived the tragedy but was seriously injured. She was rushed by authorities to the hospital.

The driver of the trailer truck, on the other hand, sustained minor injuries and was also treated at the hospital.

The attending physician revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol based on the result of his alcohol breath test.

Zamora was taken to the custody of the Tumauini police for further investigation.
